Green Country 12 & Under Rules
Purpose: To promote the playing of softball and to develop youth with the proper attitude toward the game and life.
All coaches accepting responsibility in this league must adhere to the purpose of this program.
Administrative Organization
Team Formation
Coaches select players and form teams. They must collect registration forms with the fee and copy of birth certificates. Coaches are responsible for turning all forms and fees into the recreation director by the deadline.
All coaches must teach good sportsmanship, good health habits, good citizenship, and exercise the type of personal behavior, which will set a good example for the children wile representing their team and their town.
Spectators at games must be kept under control by the coach, and razzing of umpires, and or players prevented. Failure to maintain control of players and or spectators will result in forfeiture of the games as recommended by the official in charge.
Any player, coach, or team expelled from a game for unsportsmanlike conduct will have to sit out the next game. On the 2nd offense by the coach he/she will be relieved of his/her coaching duties that season.
Any change in team rosters after the deadline must be approved in writing; the form will be provided by the director and must be signed by at least two of the Green Country League Rules Committee members, before any roster will be changed.
Games
Games Schedule and Rescheduling:
The director will do all scheduling of league games. No changes in dates shall be permitted in the league schedule without authorization from the director.
The director will make available times and field. If your team is given the make-up date and your team doesn’t show up, that will count as a forfeit and win for the team that is there. Any forfeited game will not be made up. No protest on game times or make-up dates. Director will have final decision.
Game time is game time. No grace period. If the team has not arrived and on the field and ready to play ten minutes after game time the game will be forfeited. No make-ups.
No profanity from the bench, field, or spectators will be tolerated. Participants who use profanity will be benched for the remainder of the game. (Coaches Must Help In This)
Home team will be the official book. Line-ups must be entered in the official book at least ten minutes before game time. Name and numbers of players.
Each player must play in his or her own age group. A player may play up in league play but never down an age group. Age deadline is January 1st of current year.
The City of Poteau or the Green Country Softball Association and its members will not be responsible for accidents on or off the field or in the bleacher area. All persons enter and play at their own risk.
General Sports Policy
Practice time and place is the decision of the coach.
Coaches Responsibility
To encourage every child to be regular in its attendance for both practices and games. This will help teach teamwork and sportsmanship.
To arrange for the teams equipment to be at all practices and games.
To attend all practices and games personally or to make sure an alternate coach or parent. (No Games Will Start Without An Adult Representative.)
To make sure that both parents and players abide by the intent and spirit of the rules that govern play.
To report any and all accidents or injuries to the director in charge within twenty-four hours from the said injury or accident.
Registration
Each player must complete and turn in the application form and a copy of their birth certificate by the deadline. Coaches it is your responsibility for all of your teams form.
Note: The coach will be held accountable for all the information forms and birth certificates. Any false information will result in the forfeit of all games involving an illegal player.
Tiebreakers
In the case of a two team tie, after the completion of the regular season, the tie will be broken by head to head play.
In the case of a three team tie after the completion of the regular season, a playoff will be played. The team with the least run differential in their losses will be the highest seeded team and the team with the most run differential will be the lowest seeded team. The lowest seeded team and the second lowest seeded team will play for the right to play the highest seed. The winner of the three team playoff will be the winner. The PARC director will set the date, time, and field for these playoff games. Each team has the right not to participate in the playoff games if so desired. If a team does not participate in the playoff, that team will finish with the lowest possible standing of the team that did participate the playoff games.
The City of Poteau will provide the following:
Provide playing fields and the schedule of games.
Secure insurance for each player.
Provide games balls and umpires for each game.
